!New books very soon but not for Vampires Of Vadin!

First off I'd like to say a book is coming very very soon but not for my Vampires of Vadin series. I thought I should explain why. To be honest it will be a few years before any books are released in my Vampires of Vadin series or really any series related to that series.

Haven't really talked about it much. But I have never been exactly pleased with who I published through. And the cons outweigh the benefits. The last book I publish, Kaiden's Fire will be the last I publish with them. All future books I plan to self-publish.

What this means for the series as of now. I cannot publish new books related to the world or characters until my contracts are up. The only reason I sent in Kaiden's fire (which sadly extended the time) was that I hated that you all had been waiting so long. But what's done is done.

That being said for two of my books I will be getting the rights back next year. My plan is to re-release the Vampire of Vadin series with new covers and with extra stories on those characters depending on the book. I'm expecting I may extend book 1 as it was my first book and I feel there is a lot that I have learned through writing since then and I feel I can flesh it out more. Not necessarily change the story but add more scenes etc to it.  Either way, book 1 will likely be re-released next year for digital and print.

So basically this is the reason why I will be strictly focused on other series for now. Which I am very excited about and I hope you all enjoy these new and different worlds I introduce you to. Little Red  (Fairy Tales Retold book 1) is coming up very very soon ( 👀 January)! After that, I have a detective story I am working on as well as a few stories I wrote shorts for but never completed. Vampires of Vadin, and all those characters will return one day but I hope while you are waiting for them you enjoy my other characters as well.

Coming Soon!

Hello, everyone.  I know it's been legit years, but I am alive, well, and writing!  I also have some very exciting news for everyone. I am basically two love scenes, an epilogue, and a shit ton of editing away from finishing book 4. Which I think I am going to change the title of lol. Haven't decided. Either way, I am almost done! I should finish writing in the next few days, and then I will probably spend about a week editing it before submitting it to my publisher.  I am going to try to update more on here, but for the most part, I am more active in my Facebook group Bee's Books, but I promise I will try to update more on here!

In other news, once I finish this book, I will be jumping right into working on another book for a new series called Fairy Tales Retold, which I hope to also release this year. It will be self-published, so we will see how that goes lol. I should have cover art for it soon, so you have that to look forward to.

Oh, by the way, I did revamp my website ShelbyRhodesAuthor.com. There is a new section called 'For Readers'. Under that section, you can find artwork I had commissioned for my characters! So, check that out if you want! Anyway, until next time!

Been a while - Updates

It has been a while. So remember in the last post I mentioned that plans can get derailed. It turned out to be an understatement.

I've been debating on what and how much I should reveal. Here is pretty much the gist of it.

There was a major medical emergency in my family that began in January. I almost lost my father and then while in the middle of his medical problems another close family member died.

The stress of everything going on stalled me out. I was too worried, too distracted to think about anything else. All the problems lasted through February and there were many times I thought that this was it, my father is going to die. Those thoughts, each one of them were breaking me down and at times I couldn't breathe. But he didn't, and despite all the odds he survived everything, and thankfully he is on his way to recovery.

I am now getting back into my writing. And I promise you the 3rd volume of Vampires of Vadin is coming. I'm close to the end. However, at this point, I don't know what else I will be releasing this year.

There are some other stories I would like to flesh out. Ones that will be self-published. I am still updating the work in progress page on my website. So you can check that out. There is just no schedule anymore, I am pretty much working on whatever I feel like working on each day. Anyway, that is my update and thanks for taking the time to read it!

Stephan's Monster RELEASED AND OTHER UPDATES!

Stephan's Monster is now live! It is also currently 10% off

Blurb:

Jayden knows he's a monster. The people he killed were horrible, but it didn't change what he was. And being taken in by Stephan Everwood at fifteen hadn't change his homicidal tendencies. Yet ten years later he finds himself struggling to be someone he's not. Then, despite thinking he lost most of his emotions years ago, Jayden discovers that not only is he not as empty inside as he thought, but that his monster is more present than ever before.

Stephan freely admits he has some issues. His self-doubts could be unrelenting and Stephan's need to fix things tended to go too far. It blinded him to Jayden's struggles. In the end, his refusal to listen to what Jayden was trying to tell him has unfortunate results. When Stephan finally accepts who Jayden is, he must als face all that he had locked away inside.

Their difficulties brought them together. Their love healed them. And when the past tries to tear them apart, their darkness saved them.

Updates on other

I am currently working on Sin's Thief the 3rd book in the Vampire of Vadins series. I should be finishing up with that by the end of the month

Other news I am also working on small free project that will be released on my website at the end of the month (Shooting for Christmas)

It will be an inside look into Adrian's frustation during his attempts to seduce his very stubborn Bodyguard Xavier. Rather than a short story it is more diary entries.  Though I do have some short stories I plan to write in the future!

Updates and Stephan's Monster cover!

Hello everyone!  It's been a while but I have exciting updates!

The first update: I am working on book three of Vampires of Vadin, Sin's Thief, but I got a bit sidetracked as I will be participating in MM Winter Fantasies Contest on this blog: ManLoveFantasies

Basically, a group of authors and I will be writing short stories that will be released the blog during a day in the month of January. Mine is done (besides a bit of editing) and will be released in two parts. Each of the authors also donated an ebook that you will have a chance to win. I believe you enter by commenting on the short stories. Anyway, at the end of the month, a winner will be chosen and will receive all the books donated! Warning though, my short is more of a teaser as I am evil like that lol.

Anyway, now that I have finished my short I will be getting back to Sin's Thief!

The second update: I am working on a special project with my very dear friend Elizabeth Bryant. It will be a joint series that will take a while to finish but I guarantee it will be something to look forward to.

And lastly, here is the cover for Stephan's Monster (Vampires of Vadin 2)

UPDATES!!

Hello, everyone! So Stephan's Monster is now on its way to being published on Bookstrand.com. So far the predicted release is December 2017/ January 2018.  I personally am hoping for December but that all depends on how fast or slow everything goes.

Other updates: Currently I am working on Vampires of Vadin book 3 Sin's Theif and Shifters of Bram book 1 Yuka's Freedom. The titles, of course, could change but that is what they are or now. You can check out my website if you want to follow my progress on those. Shelbyrhodesauthor.com

As for my first book Adrian's Bodyguard, it should be up on Amazon in a few weeks. I'll make sure to post when it is available there. Speaking of my first book, I would love to know what everyone thinks. So feel free to leave a comment below.

Vampires of Vadin Book 2 - Stephan's Monster

Moving past the slightly upsetting events the other day. I am happy to say I have finished and submitted Stephan's Monster to the publisher. I  have started book three and I am also working on book one for a different but connected series call Shifters of Bram. If you want to follow (or stalk) my writing progress on my newest books check out my website (ShelbyRhodesAuthor.com) I update the 'Work in Progress' section frequently.

As for Adrian's Bodyguard, I hope you guys take a chance and check it out if you haven't. For the most part, the responses have been positive. There are a few reviews on goodreads.

To those who have read it and not left a review, I would love to know what you think. I am also open to questions, here on my blog, or send me a message through my website. I'm also on facebook.

First Drafts and Editing

I have officially finished the first draft of Vampires of Vadin book 2: Stephan's Monster. YAY! But now comes the not so fun part...editing. The process where you can end up rewriting a paragraph about ten times until it is completely different from how you first wrote it.

However, it is necessary and an important part of the writing process, most of the time you can only benefit from it. So over the next week or so I'll read my book over about three times. But for me, it will not end there, as after my many edits there is one last step. A step that I would honestly suggest all writers undertake.

I sit back, load my book into a text to speech program and just listen. Doing this is an excellent way to catch all the little mistakes you make, the ones that your mind somehow fixes when you're reading.  (or ones you missed when you were sleep deprived because you thought it was a good idea to stay up all night watching Netflix... it happens)

It also helps you in other ways. Just listening to how your words flow when spoken can help you spot possible dialog and internal thoughts that maybe don't read as smoothly as they should. Of course, if you rather not bother with a program (which I get as the voices are a bit robotic, especially if you use one that is free) you could always read it out loud to yourself.  However, I would still highly recommend using a program, so your focus isn't split between reading it and listening for mistakes.

So excited! - Updates etc

Hey guys,

So I received the cover art for my book today! Super excited.

No release date yet, but so far I have gone through one set of edits. If things continue as they have my book should be released mid-September.

As for my new writing endeavors, book 2 of the Vampire of Vadin Series is coming along. I'm about 3/4ths the way done. It is getting to the point where I'm actually starting to enjoy re-reading and editing. I'm at that nice point in writing where you're like 'Hey this isn't half bad.' You know past the point where you're like, 'this sucks what the hell was I thinking?'

Anyway here is the cover for book 1 of Vampires of Vadin.
